Alena Hairston
graduated from Brown University's MFA Program in
Literary Arts. Recent work appears in Drunken Boat, Callaloo, In
Our Own Words, and Obsidian III. Performances include A Raisin in the
Sun for Providence Black Repertory Theater and Women Pharaohs for the
Discovery Channel. Awards include Brown University’s John Hawkes Prize
for Fiction, the 2004 Poetry Fellowship from RISCA, and a 2007-09 Cave
Canem Fellowship. Her collection, The Logan Topographies, won Persea
Books’ Lexi Rudnitsky Memorial Prize for Poetry.
